1. Ownership

All designs, files, software and materials created by or for Frontier Frets are original works owned exclusively by Frontier Frets, protected by United States and international copyright law, applicable state trade secret law, the federal Defend Trade Secrets Act (18 U.S.C. § 1836 et seq.), and other applicable law. Copyright © 2026 Frontier Frets. All rights reserved.

"Frontier Frets", "FrontLink", "Kit Bay" and related names, logos and marks are claimed as trademarks of Frontier Frets [confirm and register before relying on this sentence]. Nothing here grants any right to use them.

2. What these terms cover ("Forge Materials")

Everything in or connected with any Frontier Frets product or project, in any form, including: STL, 3MF, STEP, CAD, slicer and print-profile files; models, necks, bodies, kits, jigs and mechanisms and their dimensions; circuit schematics, PCB layouts, Gerber and drill files, bills of materials and pin maps; firmware and microcode; the Frontier Frets and FrontLink applications, websites, configurators, Kit Bay, tools, scripts and source code; artwork, textures, fonts, documentation, build instructions and test data; and any pre-release, test, expiry or beta build.

3. Limited license

When you buy a product or subscribe to a service, you receive a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the product and Forge Materials only for your own personal, non-commercial use and only as these terms allow. You own the physical item you bought. You do not own, and are not assigned, any intellectual property in the design, files, software or firmware. All rights not expressly granted are reserved. Where a purchase includes printable files, you may print copies for your own personal use only; you may not sell, give away or distribute the files or prints made from them.

4. What you may not do

Except as expressly allowed in writing by us, you agree not to, and not to help anyone else to:

  1. reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, decrypt, dump, probe or otherwise attempt to derive source code, firmware, algorithms, file formats, schematics or design data from any Forge Material or product;
  2. copy, reproduce, scan, trace, measure-to-replicate, remix, convert or create derivative works from any STL or other design file, any printed part, or any board or mechanism, in order to make, sell or distribute a copy or a similar competing product;
  3. share, upload, publish, resell, sublicense, rent or distribute any Forge Material, or post it to any file-sharing, model-hosting, marketplace or public repository;
  4. circumvent, disable or tamper with any license check, subscription lock, expiry, watermark, authentication or other protection (including as prohibited by 17 U.S.C. § 1201);
  5. remove or change any copyright, trademark or confidentiality notice, or any identifying mark or watermark;
  6. use Forge Materials to train, fine-tune or benchmark a machine-learning model, or to scrape or bulk-collect our content;
  7. disclose any non-public Forge Material, test build, pricing or roadmap to anyone else.

Nothing in this section limits any right you have under law that cannot be waived by contract.

5. Confidentiality and trade secrets

Non-public designs, files, firmware, source code and pre-release builds are our confidential trade secrets. You will keep them confidential, use them only to evaluate or use the product as permitted, and return or destroy them when we ask. Testers who receive private or expiry builds additionally agree that the build is for the named tester only, expires on its stated date, and may not be copied, shared or analyzed beyond ordinary use.

6. Enforcement

You agree that a breach of Sections 3 to 5 would cause us harm that money alone cannot fully repair, so we may seek an injunction, impoundment and other equitable relief in addition to damages, without having to post a bond to the fullest extent the law permits. We may terminate your license and access immediately on breach, with no refund. We may take legal action, including claims for copyright infringement, trade secret misappropriation, breach of contract and circumvention. If we prevail, you agree to pay our reasonable attorney fees and costs. We may also report infringing listings and files to the host and to the courts.

7. Disclaimer and limit of liability

Products and Forge Materials are provided "as is", without warranties of any kind to the extent the law allows, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. 3D-printed and electronic items can fail or cause harm if misused; you use them at your own risk. To the extent the law allows, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages. Some of these limits may not apply to you.

8. Governing law and venue

These terms are governed by the laws of the state (or country) in which the owner of Frontier Frets resides, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts, or by arbitration, located in the county where the owner of Frontier Frets resides, and you consent to that venue. Nothing here limits any consumer rights that the law of your own country gives you.

9. Acceptance, changes, general

You accept these terms automatically by buying a product, by downloading, opening, reading, copying, installing or using any Forge Material, file, document or service, by clicking "I agree", or by accepting a test build. This notice and these terms apply to every Frontier Frets project, repository, folder, download and product, and are provided with each of them (look for the file IP-NOTICE-AND-LICENSE-TERMS.md or the notice in the README). We may update these terms; the version shown when you buy or accept applies to that purchase, and continued use after notice of a change is acceptance. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force. These terms are the entire agreement on this subject and add to (and do not replace) the Frontier Frets website Terms & Conditions. You may not assign them without our written consent.
