Chartsmith

Chart it. Hear it. Play it. Chartsmith is a chart editor for Clone Hero. Import a song, map the tempo and place notes on a smooth highway view with the tools charters expect. Press Auto-Chart for a first draft, play-test it with your guitar, then export a ready-to-play song zip. It is still being built and is not released yet.

What it does

Import almost any song

mp3, ogg, opus, flac, wav, aiff, m4a/aac, wma, webm, and audio from mp4/mkv/mov. Multi-stem songs too.

Every instrument, four difficulties

Lead, co-op, rhythm, bass, keys, 6-fret guitar and bass, drums (4-lane, pro, 5-lane), vocals and harmonies.

Editing charters expect

Grid snap from 1/4 to 1/192 and triplets, select, drag, stretch, copy and paste, undo history, tap tempo, tempo and time-signature tools, waveform and spectrogram.

Auto-Chart

Listens to the song and writes a first chart: tempo map, sections and notes for every difficulty, with style sliders and a confidence readout. A starting point, not a finished chart.

Built-in Claude assistant

Bring your own Anthropic API key. It reads the chart and edits through the same undoable commands, asks before big edits, and keeps an action log. The key lives in your system keychain.

Play-test with your controller

Keyboard or guitar controller, calibration, loop, pause, slow down with pitch kept, star power and a results screen. Sing vocals with a microphone.

Export for Clone Hero

A song-folder zip with notes.chart or .mid, audio, album art, background and a full song.ini, after a pre-export problem checker. Import existing songs too.

Made to be comfortable

Autosave and crash recovery, themes, accessibility options, touch layout, an in-app How-to-chart guide and Streamer mode.

How it works

  1. Import a song
  2. Map the tempo
  3. Chart it, or press Auto-Chart
  4. Play-test
  5. Export the Clone Hero zip

FAQ

When is it out?

Not yet. Leave your email below and we will tell you when it opens.

Does Auto-Chart replace charting?

No. It writes a first draft you then edit by hand.

Which platforms?

Linux first. Windows and macOS need builds on those systems; an Android build exists but is untested on a device; iOS has not been started.

Does the Claude assistant cost extra?

It uses your own Anthropic API key, billed by Anthropic, and is optional.

Do I need Clone Hero?

The export is made for Clone Hero. You need the game to play the charts.
